University of Stirling

The University of Stirling is based between Stirling and Bridge of Allan, a walk or short bus ride away form Stirling city centre and the main train station (45 minutes north-west of Edinburgh). The university feels very self-contained in amongst the hills that surround the modern looking campus, and the lake proves a tranquil addition.

Sport is a key feature of the university, as it is the Scottish University of Sporting Excellence, and the facilities cater to a number of Olympians, as well as less able students.

Notable alumni from Stirling include the author Iain Banks, TV presenter Kirsty Wark, and MP John Reid.
