University of Dundee

Touching the city centre, and overlooking the River Tay, the University of Dundee boasts a superb location within the city. The train station (1½ hours north east from Glasgow) is a ten minute walk away, while all the social and cultural offerings of the city’s Academic Quarter border the university’s main campus.

There are great views of the river from many points on campus, most notably the Student Union and a small top floor café in the Tower Building. It’s a compact university, easy to find your way around, and also a surprising one, as you can stumble across superb little quadrangles such as by the Carnegie Building, which make for nice places to have a sandwich or work outside (when the weather allows!).

Former students include musician Gary Lightbody, author Kate Atkinson, and journalist Alan Johnston.
